PEEL LIONS have collected more than £2,000 worth of products for the shoebox appeal with the help of supporters in Ramsbottom and Tottington.

The club held collections outside Tesco and the Co-op and received donations from Cormar Carpets, the congregation and the Reverend Hugh Bearn at St Anne’s Church, and local residents.

Essential items such as toothbrushes, tissues, stationery and soap were collected and packaged into boxes donated by TG Nuttall Packaging in Trafford Park.

The gifts have been donated to the Fusiliers Association and sent to service personnel serving in Afghanistan.

Lions president, Jimmy Hill, presented certificates of appreciation to representatives from the stores and has thanked the people of Tottington and Ramsbottom for their generosity.
