A GROUP of sporting women hit their fundraising target at a charity darts competition.

The ladies’ darts teams at the Ramsbottom Royal British Legion raised £250 at a competition held in memory of former team member Joan Henry, who died in May.

The money raised, which included £100 donated by Peel Lions Club, was donated to Guide Dogs for the Blind, a charity that Joan had supported. Marie Ashworth, captain of the British Legion ladies’ Team B, said: “We were really pleased with the turnout and how much we raised. Joan was an absolutely marvellous character and was loved by everyone. She could never do enough for anyone, she would always offer to help and I think the level of support on show on the night shows how much she will be missed.”
